TCY Book Club Guide: Beach Reads

Remember summer? I mean, in Florida it's always summer. But that carefree summer ~feeling~ has been more than a little tough to muster considering COVID and going on month 58439 of quasi-quarantine. Melanie always says the books I read are depressing (sue me! I'm emo sometimes!) but in the summer, only the lightest reads are allowed in my beach bag.

So scroll on and let us know your faves. Whether you have a beach or pool to veg out by, these reads are sure to give that hazy, mimosa-infused feeling of summer R&R.

So you're not left out of the conversation. It feels like everyone who's opinion we trust has read this one. And you as you read Glennon Doyle's "Untamed" story, you'll get why she says "the braver you get, the luckier you get."

First of all this title–"Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine"– is just relatable. But this book club fave is about a woman who's more or less a loner (again, relatable) and has a life-changing moment that will keep you hooked til the end. Reese Witherspoon likes it, so enough said.

Has Jennifer Weiner ever let us down? No. Big Summer is peak beach read. A summer wedding in Cape Cod, an irresistible guy, and a scandal? Sign us up.

A love affair that spans the years set in Nantucket, 28 Summers is one of those that might make you cry a little but you'll be on the beach so you'll get over it. Plus, since we can't really travel, the thought of summering in Nantucket will transport you.

Remember when you were a jetsetter? The Jetsetters will satisfy your mediterranean cruise appetite, and your love of family dramas. We all got 'em!

Think Sex and The City. Add kids. Add ALL of the drama. The heroine in Happy and You Know It joins a mommy group that's all glam and all secrets and intrigue. Makes that WhatsApp group chat you're in look reeeeally good.
